NDR Big Band

The NDR Big Band (North German Radio) is a jazz band of self-confident soloists that jump easily between elegant swing, exotic Latin beats, Bebop and their very own programs. Although they don't depend on the names of jazz greats while busily giving concerts in the transmission area of the NDR, the collaboration with artists like Chet Baker, Al Jarreau, Carla Bley, Joe Sample or Quincy Jones compliments the unique sound.

Jazz de Notre Dame

Lübecker Kammerchor (Andreas Krohn), Ingolf Burkhardt (tp, flh.), Ilja Ruf (keys)

Inspired by their shared improvisational experiences in 2018, jazz trumpeter Ingolf Burkhardt and choir director Andreas Krohn (Lübecker Kammerchor) have developed a program that crosses the boundaries between a cappella choral music (Middle Ages / Renaissance) and contemporary instrumental jazz. The starting point is the unique four-part "Messe de Notre Dame" by Guillaume de Machaut (14th century), but polyphonic Renaissance compositions by Josquin, Tallis and Brumel also serve as a basis for Ingolf's jazz improvisations. This musical collaboration crosses boundaries and showcases the art of transition. With "Markings" by composer Örjan Fahlström (Sweden), with lyrics by Dag Hammerskjöld, two contemporary choral pieces are also included.

All Jazz de Notre Dame concerts have been postponed to 2021.
