News about Ingolf Burkhardt

"Conquests": New album with top line-up!

A new album is on the way! On October 28th, Ingolf Burkhardt's new album "Conquests" will be released! A great program that brings together not only Burkhardt's groove band Jazul, but also the NDR Big Band! Together they pay tribute to the greatest hits of Joe Sample und den Crusaders.

A fantastic mixture that combines the spirit of the great pianist Sample and Burkhardt's very own handwriting!

New Year, two new Albums

Ingolf Burkhardt's JAZUL is back in the studio: Together with NDR Big Band they are recording a new album: "Ingolf Burkhardt plays the music of Joe Sample".  It will be released in September 2016 (see: Tour Schedule).

Less patience is needed for the new duo Album Ingolf Burkhardt and Roland Cabezas: It will be released on January 24th 2016.

It's hard to imagine a better start in the new year...

Ingolf Burkhardt endows music award

As from 2014 the renowned music contest of the Landesmusikrat Hamburg will bestow the Ingolf-Burkhardt-Award to outstanding soloists. Name giver Burkhardt explains the idea behind this new music award: Besides perfect interplay, is the most important feature of jazz. Therefor musicians should be motivated to more often solo extemporarily. According to Burkhardt expression and originality are most important – and who could know this better than the NDR Big Band trumpeter himself?
